Behavior is communication. What is your child’s behavior telling you about his/her underlying developmental capacities? Our developmental assessments are performed to assess these underlying capacities in a play-based interaction. The assessment is based on the DIR® model and looks at your child’s (age appropriate) ability to maintain regulation, engagement, two-way communication, and extended problem solving interactions while expressing and elaborating on ideas and engaging in higher level logical thinking. In this process multiple capacities are assessed including: sensory & motor profiles, visual spatial thinking, use of affect, range and flexibility of coping strategies, communication, and environmental stresses and supports. Based on this assessment, therapeutic intervention programs are designed including one-on-one therapy and/or parent training and coaching to enhance the social-emotional capacities of your child to facilitate successful social participation and behavioral organization.
